"Clean Equations began as the solo project of vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist/general noisemaker Mike Nyhan. Between constant travel as a full time chemical engineer, Mike managed to compile a plethora of poorly recorded demos from his life on the road. Upon returning to Philadelphia in early 2009, Mike and long time friend/producer/State Capital Records owner Dan Hewitt began crafting the best of these demos into what would become Clean Equations first proper release, a six song, 21 minute self titled EP Clean Equations"

Continuing with our fascination with global melodic ramblings, Clean Equations provide a comforting mixture of indie styles and grace. This record genuinely benefits from multiple plays, teamwork and impressive engineering.

Pennsylvania based Pariah Piranha release their third album `People People`, raising the stakes surrounding a more open minded society regarding sexual orientation. An unavoidable distorted Seattle sound, fast paced power chords and fuzzy bass shapes.

"Pariah Piranha is a product of the 90’s and will remain forever nostalgic. “When we were in high school, people called some music ‘alternative.’ It was a genre. It actually meant something. I think Pariah Piranha sounds like that,” says vocalist Tara Gordon. The chemistry between the three members of Pariah Piranha is obvious, and the dancing and hand claps will happen, whether you like it or not".

Spearmint - A Week Away

Ten years down the line, London still fondly remembers Spearmint and their non-abrasive, user friendly powerpop. Whether it was the initial timing of `A Week Away` in regards to popular musical trends or limited promotion that pushed this release to the collectors corner, it`s anyone`s guess why some quality audio drops off the radar. I`m not surprised at the ongoing individual creativity, solo projects and DJ sets that have spiralled from Spearmint, keeping the faith and embracing progress. Let`s hope fresh interest gets them back in the studio.

"The album has a concept, which is quite under-played. It is the same idea as "A Week Away" the song: that you have a limited amount of time on earth, you start out full of enthusiasm and energy, and then gradually realise that time is running out. In the song, it is quite a simple analogy of a week's holiday - you live it to the full and make the best of it, but in the end Saturday comes round and it is over".

Now remastered, repackaged with a twenty-four page booklet and expanded by an extra twelve tracks (seven of which are new) `A Week Away` is enjoying a second outing and hopefully bagging a piece of the new beat generation drawn to cool guitar pop and unique storytelling.
